Abstract

The subject of the present research is “Trauma, hope and destiny in The Road: a psychoanalytical reading.” McCarthy’s novel represents the features of the post-apocalyptic novel with the analysis of shift of human belief system from hope to loss of hope to the revival of hope at the end. McCarthy’s The Road has strongly represented the crisis of survival of mankind in devastated life where there is no sign of hope and life. The novel depicts the archetypal features of almost all post-apocalyptic novels with details of devastated landscape, destructed surrounding and suffering of mankind.
